City’s Own T20 Cricket Team led by Suresh Raina

Hyderabad, 18th November 2023Urbanrise and Trident Power today announced the launch of Urbanrisers Hyderabad for the upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament 2023. In a glittering ceremony at Hyderabad today Film Star Victory Venkatesh unveiled the team’s jersey.

The team will be led by ‘Mr. IPL’ Suresh Raina and coached by former Indian World Cup cricketer Nikhil Chopra.

The Legends League Cricket is the only national T20 format tournament in the country, apart from the IPL. Urbanrisers Hyderabad is packed with Indian and International star talent including Martin Guptill, Dwayne Smith, Peter Trego, Chamara Kapugedera and Stuart Binny. Pragyan Ojha, Tirumalasetti Suman and Sudeep Tyagi the city’s own cricketing talent also feature in the line-up.

Mr. Manoj Namburu, Chairman & MD of Urbanrise, South India’s largest real estate developers and co-owner of the team said, “we are proud to offer the city of Hyderabad it’s very own cricket team. It solidifies the commitment we have towards the city, which we have shown so far through the high-quality projects we have built for our esteemed customers. The vibrant colors of the jersey symbolize the energy and the passion to win.”

Victory Venkatesh said, we are very very lucky to get a wonderful team with Nikhil being the Coach and Raina their Captain, with some wonderful players, Suman, Pragyan. Good to have Peter, going to score all the sixers for the team, a hard-hitting batsman, I always watched your game, it’s amazing. Their colours yellow and black represent power and energy, the soldier in the logo depicts commitment. Wish them the very best.

Nikhil Chopra said, being part of this team has been a fantastic journey so far, I played with lot of these players, I know all of them, excited to be part of Urbanrisers Hyderabad. We got some good bunch of players, some raw pace, over all a very balanced team, fortunate for the right kind of mix. Speaking about the current Indian team performance at the World Cup, they have been on a terrific run, make no mistake about it, with the skill set the batting department taking on responsibility, so has the bowling department, you don’t see a chink in the armor at this point of time. My message is, guys just go out there with the kind of cricket you are playing, just go out and execute your plans. The way Rohit is leading the team is phenomenal. Just go out there, treat it like just another game.

Cricketer Pragyan Ojha said, once a sports person’s career is done around 38 or 39 years of age, a platform like this will give an opportunity to get back to cricket and do what we love. So, I am grateful that this tournament has started and there is a local owner to encourage all our boys. Now after retirement, cricketer has a second career or life to pursue his dream of playing again and secure himself financially. About the current performance of Indian team, the captaincy of Rohit has been brilliant and coaching of Dravid has been up to the mark. If you see the way these two guys have handled the team, and the pressure so far has been brilliant. Rahul has been himself a player, he understands at times even if you are giving your best performance may not be up to expectations. As a coach one can give the backing, they perform better, see Shami on his comeback the way he impacted the game. Rohit has been knitting the players to express themselves, while giving free hand for everybody, he is balancing out well by handling the pressure and giving the players the opportunity to open out. The bowling unit has been outstanding. I wish the Indian team the very best for tomorrow’s match and they win the cup, it won’t be easy because they are facing the someone like Australia, who have the experience of the experience of handling the pressure in the crunch game. I am confident of the entire eleven shining tomorrow and especially Md. Shami and he becoming the player of the final.

Tirumalasetti Suman said, this world cup final is going to be a great tug of war, everyone may think that India is in a great form to win, but Australia has also been on a high, the way they came back after two losses. They are playing the match at Ahmedabad infront of 1.2 lakh crowd, obviously it’s going to be a great final and hope India comes out as a winner. If you compare man to man, India is definitely a better team and have an upper hand. Rohit is a selfless captain. To win a tournament like world cup bowling has to be strong, Australia won world cup five times because of their strong bowling unit, India also won ten out of ten matches in this world cup because of their bowling strength, we have the best bowling unit. On a given day Australian openers are very strong and they need to be sent back quickly and that will help India win the match. Since 2011 the country hosting the world cup has been winning the tournament, expecting India to lift the cup, especially because team is performing well, they are all playing like a closely knit unit.

The Legends League Cricket (LLC) tournament starts on November 18, 2023. The first match of the Urbanrisers Hyderabad kicks off on November 21, 2023. The entire tournament will be broadcasted live on STAR Sports and Disney+HotStar. Fans can also purchase tickets and watch the matches live at the stadium.
