The Pushpayaga Mahotsavam was held with grandeur in Srivari Temple  on Saturday. 

A ceremonial Pushpayagam was performed with various types of flowers and leaves rendering floral bath to the deities.  

On this occasion, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva and Arjita Brahmotsavam were cancelled.

Additional EO Sri Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, DyEO Sri Lokanatham, Garden Dy Director Sri Srinivasulu, Peishkar Sri Ramakrishna and others were present.

The procession of tonnes of flowers was held on Saturday in connection with Pushpayagam.

Speaking on the occasion the Additional EO Sri Ch Venkaiah Chowdary said every year the annual Pushpayagam is observed in a grand manner in Tirumala. To waive off the sins committed either knowingly or unknowingly by the temple staff as well the pilgrims, the Pushpayagam is performed.

Today nine tonnes of 17 varieties of flowers, six types of leaves were donated by donors which includes five tonnes from TN and two tonnes each from AP and Karnataka, he added.

Around 300 Srivari Sevaks carried each basket of flowers and leaves from Garden department to temple in a colourful procession.

Temple DyEO Sri Lokanatham, Garden Dy Director Sri Srinivasulu and others were present.

The sacred bath, Snapana Tirumanjanam to the utsava deities of Sri Malayappa Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi was observed in Tirumala temple on Saturday morning.

In connection with the Pushpayagam, snapanam was performed to the deities between 9am and 11am. The vedic pundits chanted Sri, Bhu, Purusha, Neela and Narayana Suktams on the occasion and anointed the processional deities with aromatic ingredients besides milk, curd, turmeric, sandal paste.

One of the temple chief priests Sri Govindaraja Deekshitulu performed the holy ritual in the presence of Tirumala Jeeyar Swamijis. Later the ritual culminated by offering Nakshatra Harati, Kumbha Harati and Special Harati.
