Pournami Garuda Seva Cancelled

Tirumala, 19 Apr. 19: The annual Vasanthotsavam came to a grand end on Friday with the nine utsava murthies in Tirumala sanctum sanctorum were given a celestial bath in Vasantha Mandapam.

It was indeed a visual treat to all the grihastha devotees who were converged to witness the snapana tirumanjanam.

The processional deities of Sri Malyappa Swamy with Sridevi and Bhudevi on a platform, Sri Rama with Sita Devi, Lakshmana Swamy, Anjaneya on other platform and the silver idols of Sri Krishna Swamy with Rukmini on another platform and Tirumanjanam with coconut water, milk, honey, turmeric paste and sandal paste was performed by temple priests as per vaikhanasa agama.

Devotees were delighted to witness all the nine deities on a row on the last day which happens to be the auspicious Chitra Pournami.

Temple DyEO Sri Harindranath, Peishkar Sri Ramesh, Parupattedar Sri Ramachandra and others were also present.

In connection with Vasanthotsavam, pournami Garuda Seva was cancelled on Friday.

Teppotsavams Concludes in Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy Vari Temple

Tirupati, 19 Apr. 19: The annual teppotsavams in Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Tirupati concluded on a ceremonious note on Friday.

On the pleasant evening of Chitra pournami, Lord Sri Rama, flanked by Sita Devi and Lakshmana Swamy rook out a celestial ride on the finely decked float.

Devotees were mused by the charm, elegance and majesty of deities on the Teppa.

Ponnakalava Utsavam Observed with Gaiety

Tiruchanoor, 19 April 2019: The Festival of Summer Resort-Ponnakalva Utsavam was observed with religious fervor on the auspicious day of Chitra Pournami on Friday as a part of Vasanthotsavam at Tiruchanoor.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has embarked on a mission of reviving old and traditional rituals. One such important festival is “Ponnakalva Utsavam” which was revived by TTD in 2007 after 25 years.

The processional deities of Lord Govinda Raja Swamy, Goddesses Sri Devi, Bhu Devi, Andal Sri Goda Devi, Lord Sri Krishna Swamy and commander-in-chief Vishwaksena were taken out on a procession from Sri Govinda Raja Swamy temple before sunrise to Ponnakalva Mandapam located in Tiruchanoor road.

Here the priests performed Snapana Tirumanjanam giving a celestial bath with aromatic substances to the deities who were halted for a summer holiday providing solace.

The unique feature is that Snapana Tirumanjanam is performed on Swing in this festival (usually deities will be seated on a platform while rendering celestial bath). Hundreds of villagers thronged to see this interesting religious fete.

TTD has made elaborate arrangements for this event. Annaprasadam was also distributed to the devotees who took part in this celestial fete.

Rathotsavam Observed at Vontimitta

Vontimitta, April 19, 2019: After glittering Sitarama Kalyanam on the pleasant night of Thursday, Lord Rama gloriously went out again to bless devotees His on.the mammoth wooden Ratham on 7^thday of annual Brahmotsavams of ancient Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Vontimitta in Kadapa district.

The imperial parade on the mada streets of Vontimitta to the accompaniment of Bhakti bhajans, kolatas and devotees dragging the divine Ratham was a cosmic spectacle to the devotees who actively participated in the chariot pulling which lasted till evening.

DyEO Sri Natesh Babu, AEO Sri Rama Raju and other officials participated.
