Tarigonda Vengamamba 205th Vardhanti Utsava Begins



The 205th vardhanti festivities of one of the most ardent poetess cum devotee of Srivaru, Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba commenced in a grand manner on Friday at Annamacharya Kala Mandiram at Tirupati.

 

The two-day Vardhanti fete will be sphere headed by the Tarigonda Vengamamba project of TTD included a stellar literary conference on Vengamamba literature.

 

Presiding over the conference Acharya Anumandla Bhumaiah, Former VC of Potti Sriramulu Telugu University said that the Venkatachala Mahatyam written in Telugu by Vebgamamba narrates the Srivari Kalyana event in simple and colourful manner.

 

He said while Annamaiah displayed his Bhakti through Sankeertans, Vengamamba devoted her life in Srivari services in various forms through her poems, ballads and Yakshaganas.

 

Acharya Kattamanchi Mahalakshmi said Tarigonda Vengamamba had penned 5 volumes at Tarigonda and 13 at Tirumala which included ballads, yakshaganas, sankeetans, stotras, etc. narrating in simple street languages.

 

Earlier Smt Lavanya Kumari of Koneru Lakshmi Rajyam team performed a sangeet concert. Thereafter the pundits who participated in the Sahitya sadassu were felicitated with shawls and Srivari Prasadam.

 

Later in the evening, cultural programs were conducted through the Annamacharya project artist Sri Madhusudhan Rao team.

 

Dr C Lata, coordinator of the Tarigonda Vengamamba project and other officials were present.

 

Pavitrotsavam at Srivari Temple From 8th to 10th September


TTD is organising grand annual Pavitrotsavam celebrations at Srivari temple from August 8-10 with Ankurarpanam fete on August 7.

 

According to Agama Shastra, the annual fete is held to ward off lapses if any, caused during year-long festivities, Utsavas by either devotees or staff and Archakas either knowingly or unknowingly. The fete with a 15-16 century background was revived by TTD since 1962.

 

As part of festivities, the Snapana Tirumanjanam ritual will performed to utsava idols of Sri Malayappa Swami and His consorts at the Sampangi Prakaram on all three days between 9am and 11 am. Thereafter the devotees are blessed by colourfully decked Sri Malayappa Swami and His consorts during the parade along the mada streets.

 

The prominent rituals include Pavitra Pratista on August 8, Pavitra Samarpana on August 9 and Purnahuti on August 10.

 

TTD has cancelled the following sevas during the annual fete. In view of Ankurarpanam festivities on August 7 Sahasra Deepalankara seva, Asta Dala Pada Padmaradhana on August 9 and Kalyanotsavam, Unjal seva Arjita Brahmotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara sevas on August 8-10 remains cancelled.

Varalakshmi Vratam Held with Grandeur













Sri Varalakshmi Vratham was celebrated with celestial grandeur at Tiruchanur on Friday.

 

One of the most important Hindu festivals, Varalakshmi Vratam was observed with aplomb as scores of devotees took part in the ritual held at Asthana Mandapam.

 

The processional deity of Goddess Padmavathi Devi, in all Her splendour, was seated on a colourfully decorated platform-Padma Peetham with varieties of flowers.

 

Starting with Viswaksena Aradhana followed by Punyahavachanam, Ammavaru Aradhana Anga Puja, Saharanamarchana, the priests recited Varalakshmi Astottaram and performed the Vratam by chanting the eight different forms of Goddess Lakshmi Devi (Asta Lakshmi) including Sri (Wealth), Bhu (Earth), Sarasvati (learning), Priti (love), Kirti (Fame), Santi (Peace), Tushti (Pleasure) and Pushti (Strength) and sought Her blessings for the prosperity of humanity. Grandhi Pooja was also performed.

 

The mass Vratam which started at 10am continued till 12 noon and it was a spectacle for the devotees who converged to witness the mightiness of Padmavathi in all Her divine charm, in dazzling jewels and colourful floral garlands and silk vastram. Later 12 types of Nivedyams and concluded Maha Mangala Harati.

 

Agama Advisor Sri Srinivasacharyulu, Archaka Sri Babu Swamy and their team splendidly carried out the Vratam.

 

Speaking on the occasion the JEO Sri Veerabrahmam said, after a gap of two years due to the Covid Pandemic, the fete was held with the devout participation. "In online we have released 1000 plus tickets and in current booking issued 550 tickets. Devotees participated with religious ecstasy. In the evening, the goddess Sri Padmavathi Devi will take a celestial ride on Swarna Ratham along the Mada streets between 6pm and 7pm", he added.

 

TTD Board members Dr C Bhaskar Reddy, Sri P Ashok Kumar, CVSO Sri Narasimha Kishore, DyEO Sri Lokanatham, Garden Deputy Director Sri Srinivasulu, VGOs Sri Manohar, Sri Bali Reddy, AEO Sri Prabhakar Reddy, Superintendents Sri Seshagiri, Smt Srivani, temple Inspector Sri Damodaram and others were present.

Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams From 27th Sep to 5th Oct

 The Srivari Salakatla (annual) Brahmotsavams will be conducted in a grand manner this year from September 27- October 5, and all the devotees who are participating in the mega religious event are requested to follow Covid protocols for their personal safety as well others, said TTD Chairman Sri YV Subba Reddy.

 

Addressing media persons after detailed discussions with TTD, district and police officials on the arrangements of ensuing Srivari annual Brahmotsavams at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Thursday evening he briefed on some important measures. Excerpts:

 

* on the first day of annual fete on September 27, the Honourable CM of AP Sri YS Jaganmohan Reddy will present  pattu vastrams to Sri Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of the state government.

 

* Prominent vahana sevas during the Brahmotsavams are - Garuda Vahana Seva on October 1, Swarna Ratham on October 2, Rathotsavam on October 4, Chakra Snanam on October 5.

 

* On first day due to Dwajarohanam event, the Pedda Sesha vahana will commence at 9pm but on all other days vahana sevas are scheduled between 8 am and 10 am in the mornings and 7pm to 9pm in the evenings.

 

* Giving priority to common devotees all privileged, SRIVANI, Rs. 300, Arjitha Sevas, VIP Break (except protocol VIPs) Darshans have been cancelled during these nine days and only Sarva Darshanam will remain operational.

 

* Elaborate arrangements are being made for the Garuda Seva as it fell on the second Saturday of Peratasi month, which is very special for the devotees from Tamilnadu.

 

* A buffer stock of 9 lakh laddus will be maintained.

 

* Since the annual fete is set to take place after two years due to covid Pandemic, heavy pilgrim rush is being anticipated. So it was directed to hold a series of  meetings exclusively with special focus on accommodation, Annaprasadam, Traffic Management and Parking

 

* Adequate number of APSRTC buses deployed for devotees and particularly on Garuda Seva day more buses will be operated.

 

* As this year nearly 4-5 lakhs pilgrims are being expected for Garuda Seva, 20 thousand vehicles are also anticipated. But once the holding capacity of vehicles in Tirumala is completed, separate parking facilities will be arranged in Tirupati and devotees will be transported to Tirumala through RTC buses.

 

* To meet the pilgrim requirements German sheds will also be erected at some vital places with temporary wash room facilities

 

* As a safety measure on Garuda Seva day and next day the 2-wheelers movement on the Ghat roads will be stalled from 11pm of September 30 till 12 noon of October 2.

 

* The artists from Tribal, rural and backward areas will be given opportunities to perform before the vahana sevas this year to encourage their folk arts apart from inviting artistes from other states.

 

* 3500 Srivari Sevakulu will be invited to serve devotees during Brahmotsavams.

 

TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy, District Collector Sri Venkatramana Reddy, JEOs Smt Sada Bhargavi, Sri Veerabrahmam, CVSO Sri Narasimha Kishore, district police and other officials were also present.
