As part of the annual Brahmotsavams of Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple at Vontimitta, on the third day (Sunday) morning, the Lord appeared in the divine Vatapatrasayi Alankaram, captivating devotees.
The grand procession of the Lord commenced at 7:30 AM. Devotional groups performed chekka bhajans and kolatam, praising the Lord, while the procession moved through the streets amidst traditional musical instruments, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere.
Devotees offered karpoora harathi at every step and had darshan of the Lord with deep devotion and reverence.
According to the Puranas, during the cosmic deluge (Jalapralaya), Lord Mahavishnu manifests as a divine infant floating on a banyan leaf, gently sucking the toe of His right foot. Reflecting this sacred form, Lord Rama—an incarnation of Lord Vishnu—blessed devotees in the Vatapatrasayi Alankaram.
Scholars explain that through this alankaram, the Lord conveys His eternal promise to protect devotees and remove their hardships. The glory of Vatapatrasayi has also been beautifully described in the sankeertanas of Saint Annamacharya.
Temple Deputy EO Smt. Prashanti, Superintendent Sri Hanumanthaiah, Temple Inspector Sri Naveen, temple priests, officials, and a large number of devotees participated in the Vahana Seva.
