Srivari Float Fetival from 24th to 28th March

Tirumala, 17 Mar. 21: TTD is organising a five day annual Srivari float festival (Teppotsavam) at Swami Pushkarini in Tirumala from March 24-28.

Teppotsavam, also known as Tirupalli Vodai Tirunal in Tamil and Teppa Tirunallu in Telugu, is symbolic to Sri Venkateswara annual boat festival celebrations.

Legends say that the float festival has been in vogue since time immemorial and in 1468 a Nirala Mandapam was built in the Swami Pushkarini by King Saluva Narasimha Raya.

In the 15th century, Saint Poet Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya had described the Teppotsavam in his sankeetans.

The festival of procession of utsava idols of Sri Malayappa and His consorts in serene waters of Swamy Pushkarini in the evenings, ahead of summer months is always a cynosure.

On the first day the utsava idols of Sri Sitalakshmana Anjaneya sameta Sri Ramachandramurty adorn the float. On second day Utsava idols of Rukmini sameta Sri Krishna go round three times.

On the last three days, Sri Malayappa Swamy and His consorts Sri Devi and Sri Bhudevi go for three, five and seven rounds respectively to regale and bless devotees.

ARJITA SEVAS CANCELLED

In view of Teppotsavams, the TTD has cancelled the arjita sevas (virtual) including Sahasra Deepalankara on March 24 and 25, Arjita Brahmotsavam and Sahasra Deepalankara from March 26 to 28.
