Telugu filmmaker Tammareddy Bharadwaj condemned MP’s comments

A BJP MP made derogatory remarks on women triggering new controversy.  Rajasthan BJP MP Chintamani Malivya asked, “How come filmmakers whose women family members change their husbands everyday can understand ‘Jauhar’.” He made these offensive comments in view of ongoing debate on the film ‘Padmavati’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The 48-year-old MP didn’t stop there, he further said that such ill-hearted filmmakers deserve to be hit with slippers.

Telugu filmmaker Tammareddy Bharadwaj condemned MP’s comments and reacted strongly. “Ruling BJP party MP had not only made demeaning comments on filmmakers but also degraded women. His remarks are unpardonable. Film fraternity should come together and condemn in one voice. BJP party has no right to claim that they respect women like goddesses by having such MPs with cheap mindset towards women. I appeal to our film fraternity and public in general to react. I don’t just feel distressed with MPs comments but feel like taking some violent action,” said Tammareddy.
