Goddess of Riches Enjoys Pancharatra Agama Puja Vidhi

Tiruchanur, 13 November 2017: Goddess Padmavathi Devi of Tiruchanoor, who sits on riches, enjoys all the rituals, sevas, puja kainkaryams that are being followed in this famous shrine since centuries as per the tenets of Pancharatra Agama Shastra.

PANCHARATRA TAUGHT BY LORD HIMSELF

While Sri Vikhanasa Maharshi taught the tenets of Vaikhanasa Agama Puja system that is being followed in almost all the famous Sri Vaishnava temples in the country, it is Pancharathra which rules the rituals in the shrine of Goddess Alamelumanga.

There are many interesting stories behind the emergence of Pancharatra Agama. While some says, that the significance of this religious text is that it is being taught by none other than the Lord Sri Narayana Himself to Sage Shandilya for five nights and hence names as "Pacharatra"(Pancha-five, Rathra-night in sanskrit). While some other scriptures says that, Lord taught Serpent King Ananta, King of Ave Garuda, Chief Commander of Lord's Army Vishwaksena, Creator Lord Chaturmukha Brahma and the Destroyer Lord Parameswara each of these days respectively and hence known as "Pancharatra Agama".

PADMA SAMHITA NARRATES SEVAS

All the sevas that are being observed in the temple of Goddess Padmavathi are as described in Sri Padmasamhita, Prasna Samhita. The daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, annual sevas are as per the procedure described in these two Samhitas.

IMPORTANT ROLE FOR CHATUSTARCHANA VISESHAM

Chatustarchana is a unique ritual observed in Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple at Tiruchanoor. Every day it is performed between 5am to 6am and 4pm to 5:30pm especially during Brahmotsavams.
