Dr. MCR HRD Institute conducted Haritha Haaram drive on its campus on June 14th, 2020. Sri Harpreet Singh, IAS, ADG of the Institute, accompanied by the IAS Officer Trainees of 2018 batch, allotted to Telangana Cadre, planted saplings.  The Officers, Faculty, and Staff of the Institute also participated in the drive, with enthusiasm.

Sri Harpreet Singh said, with a sense of pride, that during the last two years a whopping over 70, 000 saplings were planted at different locations on the campus and there is a plan to plant as many as about 30, 000 more, during the current year. “The planting of trees and the green cover are greatly instrumental in finding enduring solutions to such problems as ecological imbalance, persistent droughts, and increasing temperature”, he stated.

Sri Harpreet Singh gave a call to all the Officers, Faculty, and Staff to plant one tree each and nurture its growth, so as to create a greener environment. “If you plant a tree, you are nurturing a life”, he added.

Eco-friendly Initiatives:

A number of innovative measures have been initiated to ensure that the Institute is eco- responsible with the least possible carbon footprints. The Institute uses the model of reduce, reuse, and recycle water and waste. The recycled water and composted kitchen waste are used for the gardens. In addition, the Institute is using rainwater harvesting pits ad bore well recharge pits to increase the ground water table.

There is a shift to solar power in a big way, which involved an expenditure of Rs. 3. 81crores. As a result, the electricity generated from the Rooftop Solar Power System of 850 KWp capacity not only resulted in a saving of a whopping Rs 9 lakh per month in the electricity bill of the Institute but also made it the top-most solar power generating government institution in the State. Unlike the conventional ways of generating electricity, which pollute environment, the solar power is clean, non-polluting, and sustainable, and thereby contributes to a greener environment.

As a part of the Haritha Haaram program, the Batukamma Tank on the campus of the Institute, of a capacity of 15 lakhs liters of water, which was earlier a cesspool, has been restored with an outlay of Rs lakhs. Since today’s plantation has been taken up around the restored Batukamma Tank, its natural beauty and the resultant bio-diversity will be greatly enhanced.

Surya Grahanam On 21st June Temple To Remain Closed till 2.30pm - TTD EO

Tirumala, 14 Jun. 20: Owing to Surya Grahanam on June 21, the temple will be closed and darshan for pilgrims will commence only after 2.30pm, said TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal.

Before receiving the calls from pilgrim callers during the Dial your EO programme held on Sunday at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala, the EO said, the timings of Solar eclipse is between 10:18am to 1:38pm on June 21. After the temple Suddhi, the pilgrims will be allowed for darshan.

Earlier EO clarified on various rumours about TTD which went viral on a social media platform. He said, a baseless report made rounds on Watsapp and Facebook that TTD has removed 1300 outsourcing employees during the lockdown period due to crunch of funds in its coffers which is completely baseless. Similarly, false reports made waves about the selling of TTD properties hurting the sentiments of devotees which in reality are completely void of truth. TTD has been selling its unviable lands since 1974 and the decision to sell these properties was taken during the last board. That was also misinterpreted by some vested interests to defame the institution|”, EO added.
Following the requests by the pilgrims to provide Laddu Prasadam to devotees as the darshan was stalled owing to Corona lockdown, TTD has sold laddu prasadams at Rs.25 per laddu while the actual expenditure on each laddu is Rs.45 at all the district headquarters and also in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. It was also criticized by a section that TTD is selling sacred laddu prasadams as sweets.

Brushing aside all these allegations, EO said, TTD sold over 22 lakh laddus and tens of thousands of pilgrims purchased the prasadams at their places following the Corona guidelines by strictly observing social distancing. Even now we are receiving requests to sell the laddus”, he added.

Veda Parayanam Programme on SVBC During Corona TIme is Prais Worthy - Callers

Tirumala, 14 Jun. 20: The religious programmes including Veda Parayanam, Dhanwantari Maha Mantra Parayanam etc. by TTD especially when the entire world is facing the threat from dreadful Corona COVID 19 virus is praiseworthy, complemented pilgrim callers.

The Dial Your EO programme held for the first time after a gap of four months due to Corona lockdown restrictions, on Sunday at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on trial-basis instead of first Friday. During this programme, 14 callers had interacted with TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal to give their feedback and suggestions.

Callers Sri Sastry, Sri Ramalingeswara Rao from Tanuku, Sri Manohar from Tirupati lauded TTD efforts in arranging Vedaparayanam at NadaNeerajanam platform in Tirumala. They sought TTD to continue the programme forever. They also suggested TTD to organise Homams to ward off ill effects of Corona. Thanking the callers, TTD EO said, TTD has been organising several Homams and Parayanams since March. "We have conducted Dhanwantari Homam, Japa Yagnam, Yoga Vasishtyam in the last two months and now commenced Sundara Kanda Pathanam to overcome the ongoing Corona crisis across the world. We have been receiving emails from devotees of Srivaru across the globe for organizing the Veda Parayanam and telecasting live on SVBC during this high time.

Callers Sri Ravi from Anantapur, Appanna from Visakhapatnam, Sri Siva Prasad from Chirala, Sri Uma Maheswara Rao from Hyderabad sought EO to think of sending pilgrims closure to Lord and also enhance the quota of online darshan tickets. Answering the callers, the EO said, the darshan for pilgrims has been stalled owing to Corona lockdown for nearly 80 days. After that, we have resumed darshan for pilgrims from June 11 onwards. Now the devotees are having pleasant darshan without the push and pull as we are allowing just 500 pilgrims per hour as against 5000 which used to be earlier in view of prevailing lockdown restrictions.

However we can think of enhancing the online quota based on the instructions we receive from Central and State governments from time to time, he added.

A caller Sri Purandharachari from Karimnagar sought EO solution to fulfil the tonsuring vow of his three-year-old child as TTD has restricted the entry for pilgrims below 10years and above 60years. In a reply to the query, EO said, in the existing circumstances, TTD cannot allow the pilgrims below and above the specified age groups as it is a directive from Central Government as CoronaVirus is more rampant in these age groups. "Keeping in view the health safety of all we have to abide by the rules", he said.
Another caller Smt Sveta from Karimnagar sought EO, the process of receiving the refund for the darshan ticket which they had booked in May from e-Darshan counter. EO said, a refund will be arranged by the concerned department.

Sri Suman from Hyderabad sought EO to place rooms with higher tariffs also online as TTD has withdrawn many rooms in the tariffs over 1000 since six months. He also complained of poor maintenance of the rooms in Tirumala. Answering the pilgrim caller, EO said, as most of the pilgrims are not vacating the rooms in higher tariff in the stipulated time, TTD has decided to withdraw the rooms with higher tariffs booking online. "We have many rooms which are available below 500 but only limited rooms above 1000 tariff. So we have taken this decision. Reacting on room maintenance, the EO said, a couple of years ago an amount of Rs.110crore towards the improvement of rooms in Tirumala was sanctioned by TTD Board. We have already commenced the repair works six months ago. However due to Corona lockdown, the works were interrupted and we have resumed now", he said.
