Go back to the roots for holistic lifestyle: Governor

Hyderabad, June 20: Hon’ble Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday gave a call to the people to go back to our roots and rediscover the holistic lifestyle in order to be in the best of the health.
She said that it was high time that we rediscover our rich, heritage, culture and food habits to be in sync with the nature and protect ourselves and our planet.
Participating as the chief guest in a web- interactive session jointly organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Isha Foundation on the topic of “Vision for holistic lifestyle and natural consumption for future of India and planet,” she recounted that her grandmother used to insist on washing of hands and legs before entering into the house that are now proving highly relevant in the COVID-19 situation.
“It is better to get modernised but not westernised. We are just counting our currency and not bothered to count the calories. Balance in life is more important than the balance in bank. If the balance in life is good, automatically the balance in bank will also improve,” she said.
Emphasising on the importance of natural consumption, Dr. Soundararajan said that if we need to protect life on earth, we need to protect the nature first. “The indiscriminate consumption patterns are wreaking havoc on the nature and will make life perilous on earth,” she added.
Quoting a study, she pointed out that when there was more greenery and increased forest cover, there was less crime rate. “The studies showed that with increased greenery people start enjoying the nature and there was a reduction in crime rate to a tune of 15 per cent,” she cited.
“Even being a qualified allopathic doctor by profession, I go to my kitchen to seek remedies for small ailments.  There are so many herbs and plants that supplement the modern medicine. We need to rediscover our glorious past,” the Governor said.
She lauded the unrelenting efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to which United Nations has declared the 21st June as the International Yoga Day. “The 21st June is the longest day of the year and it symbolizes that Yoga helps to have the longest life,” she said.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Isha Foundation for their efforts in promoting holistic lifestyle and natural consumption.
ICC chairman committee member Dr GBK Rao, Southern council chairman Rajiv Reddy Region Head Naveen Madishetty were part of the interaction.

Actress Manjima Mohan’s ‘One in a Million’

Actress Manjima Mohan’s high caliber performances have been noticed and appreciated in all her movies. In a short period, she became the favorite of crowds. Her genuine connection with fans and followers through social media platforms stands out to be yet another major trait of keeping her fan base in huge numbers. Now the actress has come up with a unique initiative of promoting new talents through the platform ‘One in a Million’.

Actress Manjima Mohan says, “I wanted to start this platform – “One in a Million” to encourage and support new talents. One thing that I was clear before launching this platform was to make sure that it doesn’t stick to the regular paradigms of contests. Instead, I wanted this to be a hub, where the individual’s talents based on art; craft, music, dance, and any creative form of art receive appreciations and love from all. This isn’t an overnight desire of mine but dreamt of this right from my college days. Moreover, I felt that spreading positivity as much as possible is the only solution to the crisis that we are all going through now and believe, this small initiative would result in such. I am looking forward to continuing this even after the situation gets back to normal. The main motto of ‘One in a Million’ is to encourage talents of all age groups.”
