Srilanka Journalists met with CS

Telangana is keen to build relationships with the neighbouring countries like Sri Lanka and to strengthen cooperation in the fields of tourism, health and social sectors.   This was stated by the Chief Secretary Dr. Rajiv Sharma to the visiting Sri Lankan journalists who called on him at the secretariat today. A 15 member journalists delegation from Srilanka consisting of Editors and Senior Journalists from the island nation is on a three day familiarization visit to the state.

Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Secretary briefed about the historical , cultural importance of Telangana. He said that Hyderabad is the most favoured destination for IT, Pharma, bulk drugs  and Aerospace industry.  Many noted research institutions relating to defence, science and technology and life science sectors are set up in Hyderabad.  The city has become a hub for major Multinational corporations such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft as there is abundant manpower talent available in the state.

Hyderabad has established itself as a centre for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions hosting a lot of seminars, events and conventions.  He further stated that with lot of corporate hospitals in the city, it has established itself as a medical hub. More and more people from across the globe are coming to Hyderabad to avail world class medical facilities.

Referring to the rich historical legacy of the state, the chief secretary stated that many Buddhist pilgrims from far and wide visit the state to have a glimpse of the Buddhist culture, including the famous Buddha statue in the Hussain Sagar.   Telangana has a cultural identity of its own. It was earlier under the Nizam rule having a unique history and separate identity.  The state was carved out from the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh through an act of the Parliament after intense struggle by the people as they felt that the funds and resources were being diverted to other areas.

 

Hyderabad is a gateway to south and north India.  The city boasts of a good climate, law and order and cosmopolitan culture.  The geo strategic location of the city is attracting lots of investments to the state, he added.

Commissioner, Information and Public Relations Mr. Navin MIttal said that Telangana  has a lot of TV channels and the vernacular press in the state is playing an active role in the development of the state.  After its formation, the state has achieved rapid progress in various sectors.  The state is also attracting lot of investments.   The GDP of the state is more than the national average, he said.
