Anitha Balakrishna, IA&AS, Joint Director General, Dr. MCR HRD Institute
and Mr. Ramesh Datla, Chairman, CII Southern Region & Chairman &
Managing Director, Elico Ltd. were the signatories.
Both the organization will be working on some of the important areas
which will create positive impact on the society, through joint interventions
from Government and the Industry. Some of the areas of partnership identified
are – Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Sustainability, Make in India, Make
in Telangana, and Governance. The first spell of the joint initiative will involve
organization of two National Seminars on ‘Best Practices in Corporate Social
Responsibility’ and ‘Case Studies on Governance’. The other interventions planned
are collaboration in the fields of Disaster Management and Climate Change, besides
others.
Mr. Vinod Kumar Agrawal,
IAS, Director General, MCR HRD Institute & E O Spl. Chief Secretary to
Government of Telangana said that Government and Corporate Sector, the two big
and mighty players, have been, by and large, working in their respective watertight
compartments and, therefore, opined that a much larger scale of collaboration
between them is the need of the hour. “Such socially-relevant campaigns as CSR,
Make in India, Make in Telangana, Eco-Responsiveness, Climate Change, Disaster
Management, etc. will achieve higher levels of success when Government and Corporate Sector join
hands and put forth concerted efforts in order to make them a spectacular
success", said Mr. Agrawal.
There is an immense pressure
on our natural resources, carbon emissions are alarmingly high, and
inequalities are increasing. The environment is suffering as are the people.
The MoU, through training, advisory, and consultative services, will be a step
in the direction of finding sustainable solutions to environment-related
issues', added Mr. Agrawal.
"Factors other than
cost are becoming more and more important for corporate sector to decide the
location for sourcing and manufacturing. CII Telangana and Dr. MCR HRD
Institute will initiate innovative interventions to strengthen manufacturing
landscape that would add to ‘Make in India’ and ‘Make in Telangana’ initiatives,
said Mr. Ramesh Datla and added that a series of initiatives on the best use of
CSR will be organized for the overall socio-economic development of the State”.
