JAPAN TEAM VISITS PJTSAU



A team of Japan Science and Technology Agency, University of Tokyo today visited the Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU). The team was led by Professor Scishi Ninomiya, met with Dr.V.Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, PJTSAU and discussed on the proposed Indo-Japan (DST-JST) collaborative project on “Data Science-Based Farming support system for Sustainable Crop Production under Climate Change”. This project is aim to develop data science based approaches using both high-end integrated information and Agricultural Sciences such as IoT, Big data, analytics, deep learning, crop modeling and omics to support high performance and sustainable Semi-arid areas of India.

The project consists of two major subjects like: IT platform for Big data based smart Forming support and Agricultural Applications for Farmer & Agriculture stake holder, aiming to conduct a research to support sufficient and environmentally friendly production of safe and quality crops under climatic change through the establishment of a bilateral joint laboratory. While the discussions held with the Japan team, the Vice-Chancellor Dr.V.Praveen Rao, explained to the team about the agricultural conditions arose in the newly formed Telangana Sate. Telangana State is prominently depended on the rainfed Agriculture said by the Vice-chancellor. The use of IT in agriculture is one of the main priority in the state, according to Vice-chancellor.

The university of Tokyo, and Japan Science and Technology Agency Team has shown the keen interest to work with professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University in the area of IT enabled agricultural services.

Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) India liason representative Mr.Yuji Nishikawa, University officers of PJTSAU Dr.D.Raji Reddy, Dr.N.Sridhar were present at this meeting. After concluding the meeting with VC the Japan team visited several Research Schemes of Rice section, Maize Research Station and Water Technology Center at the University premises.
