Honourable Chief
Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has declared that a comprehensive water
policy is being implemented to make Palamur district, which was neglected and
discriminated against under the United AP rule, into a very fertile land. The
CM made it clear that by completing the pending projects as well as new
projects like Palamur Lift Irrigation Scheme, 18 lakh acres will get irrigated
water. The old Mahbubnagar district will be developed on par with the East
Godavari district in AP, he assured.
Congress party leaders from Old
Mahbubnagar districts MP Nandi Yellaiah, MLAs Smt DK Aruna, Dr Chinna
Reddy, Sampath Kumar, Vamshichand Reddy, MLC Damodar Reddy and
others have met the CM at Pragathi Bhavan here on Wednesday. Besides
Irrigation, other issues of the Mahbubnagar district were also discussed. The
CM gave a power point presentation on the water resources and designs of
various irrigation projects of Palamur district. The CM made it clear that
beyond politics, his endeavour will be to bring out Palamur district from the
injustices being meted out to it during the United AP rule.
“There is availability of 3,000 TMC of
water in Godavari River. In Krishna, we have 1200 TMC. In both the rivers there
is more than 4000 TMC of water is available. If we are able to utilise these
waters properly both the states can give water to every acre. There is no
reason why we should have any disputes? I told the same thing to AP CM Chandrababu
Naidu. In Telangana State, we are implementing a comprehensive irrigation
policy to utilise the water from Godavari and Krishna rivers. We have
re-designed the projects for this purpose. Telangana State gets more benefit
from the Godavari River. For Palamur district, we have to bring in water cent
percent from the Krishna River. This is the reason why we have redesigned the
Palamur Lift Irrigation Scheme. Though AP government put some queries we have
explained them in the Apex Committee meeting. We have effectively over ruled
the objections. We will complete Palamur Lift Irrigation Scheme. We will
complete Dindi project also. Through Palamur, Rangareddy district will also get
water,” the CM explained.
“As part of project re-designing, we
have decided to use water from Srisailam. We can utilise at maximum 8 TMC at
Jurala point. But at Srisailam point there is 100 TMC of water is available. We
can draw water from this point throughout the year. This is the reason why we
made Palamur intake point at Srisailam. The government has also given
importance to complete Kalwakurthy, Nettempad, Bhīma and Koilsagar. Last year
we gave water. By this Kharif season, pending projects will be completed. We
have decided to take up Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme also. We will soon
start works. We will see that Ghattu Lift works are done in a speedy way,” the
CM said.
“We have already asked the Centre to
take up works related to Gadwal and Macherla Railway line. I will go to Delhi
once again to meet Union Railway Minister. It is very important that works on this
line should be taken up immediately. There are more handloom workers in Gadwal
and we are setting up a Handloom Park there. More courses will be added to the
Gadwal PG Centre and we will develop the Centre. We are setting up more Solar
Power Plants in Mahbubnagar District,” the CM disclosed. He also wanted the
Congress leaders to come forward in solving the people’s problems. The state
government is working with commitment to develop Mahbubnagar district on all
fronts, which was neglected during the united AP, the CM said.
