Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao review on World Telugu Conference


Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted the proposed World Telugu Conference should highlight the work and role played by Telangana in the development and growth of Telugu language and literature. The CM instructed that scholars, literary figures, prominent personalities who are contributing the spread of Telugu language and literature from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state, from other states as well as from abroad should be invited for the Conference and they are to be felicitated.

          World Telugu Conference organizing committee had held its meeting here on Friday in Pragati Bhavan. Government Advisors KV Ramanachary,  G Vivekanad, Principal Secretary (Cultural Affairs) Burra Venkatesham, Telangana Sahitya Academy Chairman  Nandini Sidhareddy, Official Language Commission Chairman Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao, Grandhalaya Parishad Chairman Ayachitam Sridhar, Telugu University VC Satyanarayana, International Telugu Samakhya Director Prof Muniratnam Naidu, TS Government representative in Delhi  S Venugopalachary and others participated.

          In this context, the CM gave guidance and made suggestions. The CM instructed that the inaugural function of the Conference should be held on June 2, the State’s Formation day, at HICC and prominent literary personalities, literary connoisseurs and Telugu Pandits should be invited for the conference. He wanted the government to bear the transportation costs of the Telugu Pandits attending the inaugural conference and they should be treated on Duty that day. After the inaugural the Conference should be held for a week or ten days. The CM wanted programmes all through the conference should address different genres of Telugu language and literature.

          “There are many in Telangana who worked for the development and progress of Telugu language and literature. The Telangana writers have shown exemplary talents in all forms of literature. Since Pothanna’s time to modern literature, several Telangana literature giants have created masterpieces and adorned many genres of literature. Organise the meetings in such a way that the contribution of Telangana people in traditional literature, modern literatures and the unique form of Avadhanams is highlighted. The World Telugu Conference and programmes should reflect and highlight the talents exhibited by Telangana literary personalities in journalism, film industry, Short story and Novels, Poetry, yakshagana, Harikatha, Burrakatha, poetry with meter, prosody etc.,” the CM said.

          The CM wanted meetings, conferences, workshop should be held during the day time while the evening should be ear marked for cultural programmes such as Perini dance. He wanted Kavi Sammelanas (Poets gathering), Literary conferences;Avadhanams should be part of the World Telugu Conference. Essay writing and elocution competitions should be conducted for the students during the Conference. Famous literary works from Telangana writers should be published,” the CM said.

          The CM also wanted Institutions and people working for Telugu promotion from places like Surat, Bhiwandi, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Sholapur, Odisha should be invited for the Conference. The CM also wanted those people and institutions in US, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Gulf countries and working for the promotion of Telugu language and literature should also be made partners for the Conference. The CM said the Conference would be coordinated by the Telangana Cultural Affairs Department.
