Chief
Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to hike the salaries of GHMC
sanitary workers. The CM had earlier hiked the salaries of the sanitary workers
who were working hard to keep the city clean and he promised then that their
salaries will be hiked again. Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama
Rao, City Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Commissioner Janardhan Reddy also
requested the CM to hike the salaries of sanitation workers.
Against this
backdrop, the CM held a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday. The
CM has decided to increase the salary of sanitary workers by Rs 1500 per month.
At the time of Telangana State’s formation the salary was only Rs 8, 500 and
the CM had increased it to Rs 12,500. Now, Rs 1500 hike is given to make the
salary Rs 14000 per month. There were requests for increase in salaries of
sanitation workers in other municipalities too, for this the CM responded
positively. The CM said in Hyderabad that the GHMC is paying the salaries and
he wanted Principal Secretary Navin Mittal to find out the financial
position of the municipalities, their income and expenditure. The CM said that
the decision on the hike can be taken after getting the required information.
Chief Secretary SP Singh, Navin Mittal and Commissioner Janardhan
Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
