On the eve of World Environment Day Neknampur Lakes Restoration & Development Cooperative Society is organizing 5k Run for Ibrahim Lake Revival

Hyderabad, June 3 2017: Neknampur Lakes Restoration & Development Cooperative Society to organize 5k Run to Ibrahim Lake Revival. This 5K Run is an awareness program for citizens to understand how collaboration with Government can lead to results & contribute towards betterment of the society.

Over 500+ residents are expected to participate in the 5K Run as a part of World Environment Day celebrations. The 5K Run will have participation from residents from neighboring colonies, apartments and societies around Neknampur Village, Ranga Reddy District, Rajender Nagar Mandal. Nearly 10,000 people reside around in these colonies and still trying to get minimum facilities like Roads, Drinking Water, Sewage and Garbage Collection & Disposal support from local administration. The pollution in the lake with industrial waste & sewage led to increase in mosquitos and pollution of ground water.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sunil Chakravarthi, President - Neknampur Lakes Restoration & Development Cooperative Society said: “This is just the start of Ibrahim Lake revival. We will collaborate with Govt targeting for lake clean-up, beautification and develop a walking track around the lake. This event also encourages people to demonstrate social responsibility in every little way they can. 80 Acers Ibrahim Cheruvu has over 444 yrs old history and once a major drinking water resource. It’s painful to see the lake in dying state. Hyderabad being city of Lakes I feel its high time we take every step to revive lakes and preserve our environment for younger generations. When it comes to social problems we have two options “to complain” or “to be proactive”, we chose to be proactive and do our bit. As said efforts count results matter, all that we are doing would be efforts and results will speak of our efforts when we achieve desired results. Its great opportunity to work with passionate Politician like Vishweshwar Reddy Garu and we are grateful to him for being backbone to our committee. Regarding 5K Run we want to bring people together so that our power against issues like this increases day by day. Its an honor to collaborate with Hyd 10K Run Foundation to organize our event”

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP, Lok Sabha said: “This kind of initiatives will help the people to understand importance of preservation of water bodies and the environment besides keeping the surroundings clean and green. On this occasion, I really appreciate the Society for their efforts towards clean and green environment.”

Celebrities Mr. Suresh Babu, Aryan Rajesh, Allari Naresh and Mr.Tanish also taken part in the awareness run. Mr. Ushesh Kumar, Sarpanch – Neknampur Gram Panchayat, Lake Protection Committee Members Mrs.Radhika, Mr.Kiran Kumar Reddy Ch, Mr.Jithender Merugu, Mr. Pramod Reddy, Mr.Manoj Mr. Nagaraj Kancham, Mr.Sravan Kumar A, , Mr.Srinivas, Mr.Eswar Reddy, Mr.Nagendra who are part of event organizing committee spent extensive time and effort for this noble cause.
