Honourable Chief
Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the officials concerned to
prepare a ten-year plan for Hyderabad and in tune with it start taking up
measures from now onwards. He wanted the officials to prepare an action plan
for the next ten years and an overall plan for the next 30 years. He wanted the
officials to come out with a detailed plan on setting up two water reservoirs
in the city, drainage, sewerage network, flood canals, power supply,
sanitation, transport, markets, toilets, greenery and other such matters.
The CM held a review meeting on
Hyderabad development at Pragati Bhavan here on Friday. Ministers
Sri KT Rama Rao, Sri T Harish Rao, Government’s Chief Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma,
Mayor Sri Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Sri Fasiuddin, Special Chief Secretary
Sri SK Joshi, Principal Secretaries Sri S Narsing Rao, Sri Ramakrishna, MA&UD
Secretary Sri Navin Mittal, GHMC Commissioner Sri Janardhan Reddy, HMDA
Commissioner Sri Chiranjeevulu, Water Works Commissioner Sri Dana Kishore, PCCF
Sri Jha, CMO Special secretary Sri Bhoopal Reddy, and other senior officials
from various departments attended.
“Hyderabad is developing at a very
brisk speed and based on the increase in population, the needs will also
increase. We have to keep in mind the ever increase in needs and demands. We
have to have a plan on what will be this city after 30 years, how much its
population is and what will be the necessities then? How to prepare plans for
future and what should we do now? At least make an action plan for the next ten
years. Every step that we will make today should be in tune with that,” the CM
instructed.
“We have given top priority on giving
uninterrupted power supply and we have achieved success. We are constructing
projects to make the State power surplus. We are also constructing projects to
supply water to the farm sector. Power and irrigation projects are going on
well. Now the government will focus on giving better infrastructure to the
people. There is an increase in the population living in cities and towns in
Telangana state. We have to create an infrastructure based on this. Hyderabad
city itself has about one crore population. Concentrate more on the city. Take
up works according to the plan,” the CM said.
Suggestions
made by the CM at the review meeting:
For Hyderabad drinking water purposes
we need two reservoirs on permanent basis. Fill up one reservoir with water
drawn from Kaleswaram and other from the Palamur Lift Irrigation schemes. Supply
water through gravity and fill 10-15 TMC water in each reservoir. Examine the
technicalities and start the works immediately.
Grow tress in the forestlands around
the city. Take up plantation in a big way on these lands and on the ORR plant
trees like Gulmohar and Pipal on either side of the road. There is seven to
eight thousands acres of forestland in Nagole and Narapalli. There is 16,000
acres of forestland outside ORR. Narsapur and Sisampet have 40,000 acres of
forestland. Hyderabad should have greenery like New Delhi. Appoint an IFS
officer in the Peshi of Municipal Administration Minister to oversee and
monitory greenery in the city.
Increase the people’s participation in
the city development. For this form basthi committees. Every Division
should have ten committees. Finalise the committees in 15 days. The
Committees should play a key role in greenery and cleanliness.
There are several tanks other than
Shamirpet, Himayat Sagar and Gandipet. Take measures that industrial water and
pollutants are not flowed into the tanks. Construct special canals not to allow
the pollutants into the tanks.
Officials should adhere to the rules
while permitting the new constructions. We will take stringent action if the
officials commit any mistake.
Develop Musi riverfront on the lines
of Sabarmati River front. Make special arrangements for the drainage. Develop
gardens on either side of the Musi. Built a road On Musi from ORR to ORR.
Construct bridges over Musi at several places to commute.
Better the power supply in the city.
Remove overhead lines. Strengthen the power supply keeping in view the rise in
demand.
Work according to plan on roads
constructed under SRDP. Give priority to places like Uppal where there is
traffic concession. Take technical precautions while making under passes so
that the water is not stagnant there.
