Tirumala, 6 August 2017: In connection with Lunar Eclipse on August 7, the world renowned Hill Shrine of Lord Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala will remain closed from 4:30pm on August 7 till 2am on August 8 and the devotees are requested to plan their pilgrimage accordingly, said Tirumala JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju.
Speaking to media persons in Tirumala on Sunday, the JEO said, the Chandra Grahanam will last from 10:52pm on August 7 till 12:48am of August 8. "Usually six hours prior to Grahanam, the temple doors will be closed. TTD will close the doors of Tirumala temple by 4:30pm on August 7 and will re-open the doors by 2am on August 8. After performing punyahavachanam, suddhi, the early morning arjitha sevas will be performed as usual. The Sarva Darshan will commence by 7am on August 8. Even no food will be served to devotees from 4pm onwards either in Annaprasadam Complex or in queue lines on that day. So we appeal to the devotees to plan their trip to Tirumala keeping in view the lunar eclipse", the JEO reiterated.
Meanwhile TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas including Visesha Puja, Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, Arjtha Brahmotsavam, Vasanthotsavam and Sahasra Deeplankara Seva on August 7. Where as Thomala and Archana will be performed as Ekantham.
