September 21: Speaking at the 'Community
Engagement Programme' for source segregation of waste organised by GHMC at
'Samriddhi' Raj Bhavan Staff quarters at Khairatabad, Governor Sri E.S.L.
Narasimhan, said that it is the duty of every resident to ensure source
segregation of waste into dry waste and wet waste. He said that the staff
quarters should become a model for other colonies in source segregation of waste
and maintaining cleanliness of colony premises. Governor said that the waste
generated in the staff quarters will be utilised for composting at the pits
prepared specially for the purpose and the manure will be utilised for the
maintenance of lawns and gardens in Raj Bhavan campus. Governor further said
that waste when segregated can be beneficial and useful and on the contrary
un-segregated waste will be of no use and will lead to environmental
disaster.
On
this occasion, officials of GHMC explained to the residents of Raj Bhavan staff
quarters, on the benefits of source segregation of waste and organised
awareness programme on how to segregate dry waste, wet waste and hazardous
waste. GHMC also distributed bins and bags to the residents of Raj Bhavan staff
quarters.
