Balalayam Rituals Comemnces at Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple

Tirupati, 10 December 2017: The unique and hoary Balalayam ritual aimed at renovation of the sanctums of all temples in the Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple complex commenced today with the Rithiwikavaranam rites. The once in 12 year ritual is taken up at sanctum of Sri Govindaraja Swamy, Anjaneyaswamy, Tirumala Nambi, Bhashyakarlu, Koorthalwar, Madhurakavi Alwar, Modaliayandan shrines in the Sri GT complex from Dec 11 to 15.

TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal and Tirupati JEO Sri Pola Bhaskar participated in the morning Ruthikavaram and presented Vastra danam to rutwiks (archakas). Later he said that the rites are performed once in 12 years to ensure incident free performance of all day to day rituals at the temple beginning with special events at the Yagashala from Dec 11-14 and the Mahasamprokshanam during Makara lagnam between 10am-10-30am on December 15, indicating the conclusion of the Balalayam.

Among others TTD Agama adviser Sri NAK Sundara Varadan, Temple Chief Priest Sri Sinivasa Dikshitulu, DyEO Smt P Varalakshmi, Srivari temple OSD Sri Pala Sheshadri, Bokkasam Superintendent Sri Gururaja Rao. AVSO Sri Gangaraju, Temple Superintendent Sri Gyana Prakash, Temple Superintendent Sri Krishnamurthi and other officials participated in the event.
