US
Congresswomen Terri A. Sewell and Dina Titus participated in a fireside chat
with women entrepreneurs in Hyderabad on April 3, 2018. Policy making and
opportunities for women entrepreneurs were discussed during the chat.
In
her first visit to India, Dina Titus, US Congresswoman said, “We-hub’s vision
is similar to the slogan - When women succeed, America succeeds.” She also said
that women entrepreneurs have plenty of opportunities and need support to
succeed as entrepreneurs.
During
the discussion, Deepthi Ravula, CEO, We Hub, said, “Women are able to open
businesses that cater to a different clientele or niche than their male
counterparts. Overall, this accounts for improved economic growth and stability
within a country. WE HUB is envisioned to create a supportive community for
aspiring women entrepreneurs across various sectors where they can interact
with VCs for funding, connect with corporates for scaling up their business,
get advice from mentors to fine tune ideas, avoid costly mistakes, and march
forward on the path to success with renewed confidence.”
“Women
have natural instincts of entrepreneurship and policy making. They play varied
roles of budgeters, negotiators and often come up with new ideas,” said Terri
A. Sewell, US Congresswoman during the fireside chat.
Later
in the day, We Hub in association with Indo-American Chamber of Commerce,
supported by the Ministry of External Affairs hosted a panel discussion on
“Women Entrepreneurship : US and India Perspective”. The discussion was moderated
by Deepthi Ravula, CEO, We Hub.
Women
entrepreneurs Geeta Rayala, Mytreyi Kondapi, Rajani Kasu, Sree Devi Jasti among
many others also participated in the discussion.
