Ritwiks Take up Yaga Deeksha with Acharya Varanam

Tirumala, 11 August 2018: The Ritwiks took up Yaga Deeksha for Astabandhana Balalaya Maha Samprokshanam under the supervision of the chief priest of Tirumala temple Venugopala Deekshitulu in the Hill Shrine on Saturday morning between 5am and 7am.  

This fete is called Acharya Varanam or Ritwik Varanam. According to this, each Ritwik has been assigned with his duty for performing the ritual in each Homa Gundam set up at Yaga Shala. From August 12 on wards, the Ritwiks will invoke the respective deity of each Homa Gundam chanting the related Mantras.

Later, TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal along with Tirumala JEOKS Sreenivasa Raju presented Vastrams to all the Ritwiks. This Vastrams will be considered as "Deeksha Vastrams" which will be worn by the Ritwiks only while performing rituals in yagashala in the next five days.
