Varaha Jayanthi on 12th Sep

Tirumala, 08 September 2018: The annual festival of Varaha Jayanti will be observed in Sri Bhu Varaha Swamy temple in Tirumala on September 12. In connection with the festival, special rituals including abhishekam to the presiding deity will be conducted in the temple situated in the north-west corner of the Tirumala temple, adjacent to Swami Pushkarini.
Immense importance is attached to the festival which, according to the legends, is believed that it was Lord Varaha Swamy who had donated a piece of land to the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara in Tirumala. As an expression of gratitude, Lord Varaha was blessed with the privilege of accepting the first puja and Naivedyam every day atop the temple town which is being followed even till date.
The Jayanti Utsavam commences with Punyavachanam followed by Snapana Thirumanjanam to Bhu Varaha swamy. The vedic scholars recite relevant hymns from scriptures while the abhishekam is underway. The Abhishekam will be observed between 9am and 10am.
