Tirumala, 14 October 2018: Tirumala adorned a new look on Sunday evening as Lakhs of pilgrims thronged the hill town from all over the country like sand particles of beach to take part in Garuda Vahana Seva, the most important festive of Navarathri Brahmotsavams.
ALSO KNOWN AS PANCHAVARNA RAHASYA
There are many interesting legends about the importance of Garuda Seva. In the Garuda Panchakshari Mantra [Om Pakshi Swaha] there are only five letters. So the festival of Garuda, which is hailed as ‘Panchavarna Rahasya’ is being performed on the fifth day.
While another legend says, the blend of Vishnu and Garuda manifests itself as the form and head of Vedas.The Vedas come under a quintuple division, the Rigveda, the Krishna yajurveda, the Sukla Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda.Hence, during the nine - day Brahmotsavas, the service of Garuda is being celebrated on the fifth day.

Garuda, the King of aves and favourite car of Lord is often described as the mighty bird having mammoth golden wings and brought Venkata, a sporting hill to the Earth as ordered by His beloved Master Sri Maha Vishnu in Kaliyuga.
MALAYAPPA TAKES ROYAL RIDE
The processional deity of Sri Malayappaswamy is bedecked with special ornaments like Makarakanti* , Lakshmi haram and Venkateswara Sahasranamamala among others which are normally worn by the presiding deity of Venkateswara in Sanctum Santorum of Tirumala for Garuda Seva.
