Legal Metrology Department raids on garment outlets

·        Past few days Legal Metrology Department has been receiving several complaints against most of the garment outlets on Legal Metrology Department Packaged Commodities Act 2011 violations.

·        Taking serious Department has intensified checks on the outlets.

·        As per Legal Metrology Department Packaged Commodities Act 2011 6(1), 6(1)A, 6(1)D, 6(1)E, 6(2), every package should compulsory have  dress size, manufacturer full details, rate, manufacturing date and consumer help desk number printed on it. Any of the above details not disclosed will be violation.

·        Branded Garments should be sold in packaged form only. Must follow Rules and regulations accordingly.

·        Should not stick self sticker on the printed price tags. Garments should be in standard measure as per the specifications on the sticker.

·        In keeping view of the upcoming Dassera festival, Legal Metrology Department is taking all measures to protect consumer rights.

·        On October 6^th, Legal Metrology Department conducted raids on 35 outllets in Greater Hyderabad region and booked 272 cases against the offenders.

·        On Friday, 15 teams headed by Assistant Controllers Bhaskar Reddy, Jaganmohan Reddy, Rajeswar Rao, K. Vijaya Sarathi, T. Shivanand conducted raids

·        Inspections were conducted at 60 outlets we and 200 cases were booked.

·        Raids were conducted at outlets like Blackberry Banjara Hills, Chennai Silks Mehdipatnam, Ramraj Cotton Ameerpet, Pantaloons LB Nagar, Venkateshwara Khaadi Bhandar LB Nagar, South India Shopping Mall Secunderabad, KLM Fashion Mall Jeedimetla, VRK Silks Kukatpally, Bhavani Brothers Langar Houz, Anutex Cloth Store Ameerpet, Geeta Krishna Shopping Mall Vanastalipuram, Vandana Textiles Vanastalipuram, Sri Krishna Kukatpally, Neerus Masabtank, etc.,

·        Total 472 cases have been booked on two days, i.e., October 6^th and today.

·        Legal Metrology Department Officials said they will continue the raids to protect consumer rights.
