Hyderabad, October 21:
Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Sri E.S.L. Narasimhan participating as Chief Guest at the Police Commemoration Day on Sunday said that we talk of PPP mode in all sectors, but it is Police Public Participation that is more necessary in the society today. The Governor said October 21, every year is observed as the Police Commemoration day as it is the day of remembrance of those great and selfless souls who laid down their lives so that we can live in peace.
Day of remembrance of so
many valiant police personnel who sacrificed their lives today leaving great
void in their families for our better tomorrow, said the Governor. Let us
recall their glorious sacrifices and pledge ourselves to take forward their
spirit and ideals, their sacrifice their invaluable lives, said the Governor. The
Governor said police personnel have laid down their lives to make their
motherland safe and secure and peace prevails in the society. He said 414
police personnel have sacrificed their lives including 2 from Telangana in the
previous year. The Governor called upon the people to understand the valour of
a policeman who does not celebrate festivals like Dasara, Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi,
as he is on the streets on those days. The Governor recalled his tenure in
Chattisgargh, where women used to tell ‘Oh Jaane wale, ho sake to lautke aana’ to
their spouses in the police force, who used to go in search of Maoists as such
was the situation there.
The Governor said it is important
to realise that they are also human beings like us and it is necessary for us
to make their conditions safe, secure and comfortable. The society owes a great
debt to these brave policemen and it is time for people to recognise the noble
service of policemen and give their fitting share and due, said the Governor.
The Governor called upon
the policemen to rededicate themselves in the service of the society, drawing upon
the inspiration from their predecessors to fight against criminal and divisive
forces with renewed vigour and continue to maintain the peaceful atmosphere. He
said the society is at cross roads now with anti national elements, terrorists
and others who are trying to dismember
the country and it is there that these policemen stand against destruction of
peace and tranquillity. He said the policemen are the wall of peace, wall of
courage, wall of valour and wall of sacrifice. Unity and integrity is under
threat and if today the country is in one piece, we owe a great debt to them
and there is no compensation to a human life said the Governor. Recalling his days as Governor in Chattisgarh,
he said he used meet families of police martyrs, young girls aged 25, 29
carrying babies, some widowed women expecting
babies and it was really pathetic to see them in that situation. They sacrificed
their partners for the country and it is our duty to be by the families of gallant
police personnel who are in deep sorrow having lost their loved and dear ones,
said the Governor. He said it is our bounden duty to give them necessary
comforts and make them feel that we are with them, by them and always ever for them.
The Governor appealed to the people to understand the arduous nature of duties
performed by the policemen and be with them so that we can all live happily and
peacefully.

Reddy, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, senior police officers,
