Grand Procession of Flowers in Tirumala



Tirumala, 14 November 2018: A grand procession of hundreds of baskets of flowers of all varieties was conducted at the Tirumala today as part of the Pushpa Yagam Mahotsavam on the Sravana Nakshatram in the holy of Karthika Masam.

Special pujas were performed for the flower baskets at the Garden department behind the Kalyana Vedika on the Papavinasam road at Tirumala.

Later the Tirumala JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju, Temple DyEO Harindranath and Garden Dept Deputy Director Sri Srinivasulu brought the flowers in a grand procession up to the Srivari Temple.

The procession in which a lot of Srivari Sevakulu and Garden department workers participated was received by the TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal, temple priests etc.

Sreenivasa Raju said in 1980 the TTD had revived the Pushpa yagam which was performed at Tirumala for centuries with the objective that prosperity should thrive in the country The festival was organized on November 14th every year since then.

He said nine tons of flowers and scented leaves were used during the Pushpa yagam, which comprised of 14 aromatic flowers, 5 scented leaves that were favourites of both Lord Venkateswara and his consorts.
