Tirumala, 22 November 2018: The annual Karthika Parva Deepotsavam was observed in a spiritual manner with utmost devotion in Tirumala temple on Thursday evening.
The hill shrine assumed a new look in the brightness of ghee lit lamps all over the temple. The beauty of the Ananda Nilayam enhanced in the glow of traditional ghee lamps.
About 60 specially made mud lamps known as "Mukullu" were placed at different places including all sub-shrines inside Tirumala temple viz.Varadaraja Swamy, Vakula Mata, Theerthasthala, Parakamani, Chandanam Ara, Bokkasam, Sabera, Hundi, Yoga Narasimha Swamy, Bhashyakarulavaru, over the Ananda Nilayam and other places in the Sampangi Prakaram. While some of the Mukullu were also placed at Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple, Swamy Pushkarini etc. out side the temple also.
Speaking on this celestial occasion, TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal said, Karthika Parva Deepotsavam is an important festival which is observed every year on the auspicious day of Karthika Pournami. He said, decorating the entire temple with ghee lit lamps gives an aesthetic feel to every devotee visiting temple on this important occasion. The significance of this festival is to get rid of the ego and awaken the inner spirituality and wisdom", he added.
Sri Sri Pedda Jiyar Swamy, Supreme Court Judge Justice NV Ramana, Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, CVSO Sri Gopinath Jetti, Chief Priest Sri Venugopala Deekshitulu, Temple DyEO Sri Harindranath and others were also present.
