Tirumala, 17 Apr. 19: On the first day of the three day annual vasanthotsavam at Vasantha Mandapam in Tirumala, Sri Malayappa along with Sridevi and Bhudevi relaxed under he cool shade of Bunchgrass (Vatti veru)mandapam.
Known as Chrysopogon zizanioides, this grass is aften used widely for its coolant properties during summer season. Scientifically it is used in the technology of soil conservation and water quality management.
The entire premises of Vasantha Mandapam is replicated as dark green woods of Seshachala ranges which is home for varieties of wild fauna, aves and flora to give a natural feel to devotees.
The monkeys hanging from the branches, cobras, wild beasts, peacocks added a cynosure to devotees during the holy fete.
Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the utsava murthies amidst the chanting of vedic mantras. Tirumala seers, Sri Pedda Jiyar and Sri Chinna Jiyar Swamijis took part in the festival. While chief priest Sri Venugopala Dikshitulu performed the special abhishekam.
TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal, Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju, temple DyEO Sri Harindranath and others, devotees participated.
