Vontimitta, 15 Apr. 19: Lord Sri Rama as ""Vatapatrasai" mused the devotees on the third day morning as a part of the ongoing annual brahmotsavams in Vontimitta, in YSR Kadapa district on Monday morning.
The devotees who converged to take a glimpse of Lord were enthralled by the unique guise.
Meanwhile, Vatapatrasai means Lord sleeping on a banyan tree leaf. We find the reference in Markendeya Maharshi Charitra. Markendeya meditates for six manvantras and Lord Indra tries hard to disturb his meditation by all means but fails. After seeing his devoted meditation, Lord Vishnu appears and asks for a boon. Markandya seeks the Lord that he wants to cherish His magic.
After a few days there was a hail storm and everything destroys. Markendeya notices a small baby boy floating on banyan leaf, sucking his foot toe by holding his leg with His little hands. Sage Markandeya realizes that the baby boy is none other than Lord Maha Vishnu and lauds Him as "Vatapatra sai".
