Annamaiah is an Encyclopedia - Scholars












Tirupati, 19 May 19 : Saint Poet Tallapaka Annamacharya was an encyclopedia by himself as he coined Telugu words while penning 32000 sankeertanas in the praise of Lord Venkateswara, scholars opinioned.

The literary fete as a part of the ongoing week-long 611th Jayanthi celebrations of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya was held at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on Sunday.

Presiding over the meeting, Special officer of Dharmic Exams of TTD Prof.Damodar Naidu said that with his versatility on language, Sri Annamacharya was rightly given the title "Telugu Padakavitha Pitamaha".

Dr.V Shankar Rao, a scholar from Chennai spoke on "Annamacharya Sankeertans - Deena Janoddharana"

while Dr Ananda Pande from Varanasi compared the writings of Annamacharya and Surdas Bhakti cult.

Later in the evening Smt Janaki of Hyderabad rendered Annamaiah Sankeertans while at Mahati Auditorium Smt K Jayalakshmi and troupe from Machilipatnam enthralled the audience with noteworthy songs of Annamacharya.

The Project Director Dr Vishwanath, AEO Smt Shanti were also present.
