CM KCR review on State Formation Day held at Pragathi Bhavan

CM KCR instructed the officers concerned to examine the possibilities of organizing the Independence Day, The Republic Day and the State Formation Day Celebrations without causing any inconvenience to the people and also to conduct more gloriously and decently.  The CM suggested that suitable alternatives are to be explored to conduct these celebrations with more facilities and more pleasantly without any inconvenience what so ever it may be to the students and to the police.

Honourable CM held a high-level review meeting to discuss about conducting the State Formation Day celebrations, as well as other National festivals in Hyderabad.  Minister Koppula Eshwar, Government Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Advisor Anurag Sharma, MP Vinod Kumar, MLAs Kamalaker, Chander,  Chief Secretary SK Joshi, DGP Mahender Reddy, Principal Secretary to CM S Narsing Rao, Commissioner I&PR Arvind Kumar, Secretary Education Janardhan Reddy, Special Secretary to CM Bhoopal Reddy,  GHMC Commissioner Dana Kishore, Tourism Principal Secretary Parthasarathy, Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar, Culture Director Mamidi Hari Krishna and others attended the review meeting.

During the review it has come up for the discussion, Whether the Independence, Republic Day and the State Formation Day celebrations are to be conducted in the same fashion as in the past? Or should there be any changes?  It has also been discussed whether on the state formation day on June 2 which is most likely a hot summers day, to involve school children, police Jawans and others for Parade.

“The State Formation Day is on 2nd June which is supposed to be a hot summer day.  There is a possibility of heat wave on that day.  Schools have holidays during that time.  It is not proper to bring students from their homes and involve them in parades and other activities.  There were incidents in the past when police personal as well as students due to heat became sick and fainted.  They also became seriously ill.  The Parade ground is also not so convenient for these celebrations”, was the opinion expressed by the officers in the meeting.

City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar during the discussion proposed that instead of Parade grounds it would be better if these celebrations are held in Public Garden Lawns, opposite to Jubilee hall.  The idea was taken well and everybody agreed to it.  They said that both the Public Gardens and Jubilee hall have historical importance.  The officers also expressed their view that in most of the states the police parades and parade by the students have been done away and hence it would be better if the same is followed in Telangana also.  They also expressed the view that instead of limiting to flag hoisting and Chief Guest’s address there could be AT HOME, Poetic Meet and Awards presentation as a part of celebrations.

Against the background of discussions held in the review meeting on Friday, the CM instructed the Chief Secretary to take the final decision after discussing with the senior officers on where to conduct these celebrations? How to conduct? Should there be any changes on the format, methodology and conventions?

The programme on June 2, 2019 on the occasion of State Formation has been firmed up.  In view of hot summer, the programme commences at 9.00 AM and till 10.30 AM there would be the main programme.  To begin with CM KCR will pay tributes at the martyr’s statue.  At 9.00 AM there would be flag hoisting, Play of Police band National Anthem, Guard of honour the National Salute, Speech by CM etc.  At 10.30 AM there would be AT HOME programme by the Chief Secretary in the Jubilee hall premises.
