Hyderabad, May 04: Addressing
employees of Raj Bhavan and their family members at Raj Bhavan Samskruthi
community centre, in an interactive career guidance and counselling session on
Saturday, Governor Sri E.S.L. Narasimhan said parents should make it a point to
teach their boys how to respect the girl child and elders in the family and society.
Children should greet elders and wish them and be on the right path, said the
Governor. The Governor said if someone known to the family is hospitalised,
children should be encouraged to visit and greet them and wish them and that
such a gesture will go a long way to help the elders to recover fast.
The Governor said health is more important than wealth and
if required a gym will be provided to the Raj Bhavan Parivar members in the
residential complex, but yoga would be better as it is suitable to people of
all ages and can be practised once in a week.
He said persons of all ages should go for evening walk,
jogging and children should cultivate the habit of waking up early as fresh air
is more important and vehicles should not be used for short distances but they
should take a walk instead. Parents are sacrificing their comforts for the
betterment of their children and it is for the children to remain grateful to
the parents, said the Governor. He said
children should make newspaper reading a daily habit and visit library
regularly and that Raj Bhavan should be hundred per cent literate with all
employees holding minimum qualification of at least a degree. All children of
Raj Bhavan employees should acquire some qualification or other and no drop
outs will be tolerated, said the Governor. He said students should not aim for
outsourcing jobs in Raj Bhavan or elsewhere and should not get disappointed
with failures in examinations.
Parents should not put pressure on children but they
should be encouraged to learn the skills in which they are interested in.
Students should read employment notifications and explore all possibilities,
said the Governor. He said similarly parents should keep a close watch on the
movements of their children and ensure that they are not going on the wrong
path like smoking or drinking. The Governor said parents should themselves
maintain discipline and set an example for the children to follow. One way in
which parents can build bonding with their children is by dining together and
they should feel that Raj Bhavan is theirs and everyone working here should
take ownership of their duties and be loyal to the job, said the Governor. He
said children should be encouraged to have the ambition to excel in their field
of interest. The Governor also said that children should make it a point to
help their parents in the household chores. Governor said the happiness of
employees of Raj Bhavan and their children is important for him and there are
so many possibilities for children to explore and they should never feel let
down.
Earlier, Sri Surendra Mohan, Secretary to Governor, Sri
Arjun Rao, Joint Secretary and Sri Vidyasagar, Liaison Officer have addressed
the members and assured them of all support necessary to ensure that the
children of the Raj Bhavan employees excel in their chosen fields.
