Balaji Resevoir to Resolve Water Woes for the next 60 Years -Tirupati MLA & TTD Board Special Invitee

Tirupati, 12 Oct. 19: The prestigious Balaji Reservoir will resolve the water woes of a multitude of pilgrims thronging Tirumala as well the locals once it is completed, said Tirupati Legislator and TTD Board Special Invitee Sri B Karunakar Reddy.

The local MLA along with TTD Engineering Chief Sri Ramachandra Reddy and other officials inspected Balaji Reservoir on Saturday evening.

Later speaking to media persons he said, both Balaji Reservoir and Galeru Nagari Projects were neglected all these years which were the main water sources of Tirumala and Tirupati and surrounding places.

Adding further he said, keeping in view the ever-increasing pilgrim rush to Tirumala, the present TTD Trust board has felt the importance of Balaji Reservoir Project which has 3TMC capacity that resolves the water woes of Tirumala.

"The total project cost has been estimated as Rs.350crores. When once the project completes, it will be very helpful for the pilgrims as well locals.  TTD should complete this massive project programme on a war-footing basis", he maintained.

The local legislator also said, "Only the Balaji Reservoir has the holding capacity upto 1TMC even when there is scanty rainfall without depending on Krishna waters. This feature is unique to this project alone as per the version of Engineers. So our priority will be this project.  When once it becomes a reality, there will be no water woes for the next six to eight decades", he asserted.
