Emergency Health Centres help to devotees with cardiac problems


The Health Department has started 16 emergency medical centres en route to Sannidhanam to impart immediate care to those face difficulty while climbing the holy hillock, said the District Nodal Officer, DR R Santhosh Kumar.
The medical centres have become operationalized since the start of the Mandala-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season. Out of the 15 cardia arrest cases reported in the centre, 12 of them have been saved.
The centres have been at Pampa, Neelimala Bottom, Neelimala middle, Neelimala top, Appachimedu bottom, Appachimedu middle, Appachimedu top, Forest camp, Marakkottam, Queue complex, Saramkuthy. Vavar nada, Pandithavalam, Charalmedu, Charalmedu bend 11, Charalmedu bend 5, Karimala.
The centres have the facility to check the blood pressure, oxygen level in the blood and the resuscitation facility. The EMCs have the service of two staff nurses and two volunteers in each turn. In the year 2017-18 2,63,473 devotees have sought treatment in the centres. In 2018-19, 2,28,370 devotees sought help.
