Gagundra Mandapam Occupies a Special Place

Tiruchanoor, 25 Nov. 19: The Gagundra mandapam, with a 151-year devotional history, is utilised as the venue of daily naivedyam and rest after vahana sevas -twice a day - particularly during Brahmotsavams and other festivals of Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru at Tiruchanoor.

The mandapam adjacent to Padma Sarovar near Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at Tiruchanoor was erected in 1868 by Sri S Venkataranga Iyengar, then Tahsildar of Tirupati-Tirumala appointed by the British government. His descendants even today come to Tiruchanoor during Brahmotsavams, Teppotsavam etc. For serving Goddess Padmavathi.

They have also set up a charity society to take dharmic and poor feeding activities during events.

Sri S Venkataranga charity society led by his descendants took up Vyramadi utsavam and other festivities at Melkote town in Mandya district of Karnataka every year at the Chaluva Narayanaswamy temple through the Vanamamalai Mutt.
