Health Department in full action at Sabarimala


The Health Department has completed the initial steps of precautionary activities to prevent the spread of any communicable diseases in Sabarimala. The precautionary activities at Sannidhanam have been made before the start of the pilgrimage season. In the initial stage fogging was done to destroy the likely breeding points of mosquitoes, a mixture of chemical liquid was sprayed in the areas were there find the intensity of mosquitoes. These activities are done on a daily basis under the guidance of Sannidhanam Health Inspector.

Hotels and restaurants were inspected by the officials and given notice to those who have not followed the set of rules put forward by the health officials. The department is also closely monitoring the areas where Appam and Aravana are made. They have also visited the camps of the sanitation workers and given instructions. The blood samples have taken from these workers and were send to the lab to detect filarisis and malaria.  

The Health Officials also have visited the copra collection center, waste management unit and given instruction to the workers regarding various diseases like rat fever and other water-related diseases. They have also given tablets for the prevention of these diseases to the workers.

Sannidhanam Health Inspector G Jayaraj, Junior Health Inspector Jayan CC, Rajesh J, Gopakumar RB are the team taking on the activities of the health department.
