18 Instructions to devotees from Fire and Rescue Department


 

The fire brigade is always on alert at Sabarimala. The Fire and Rescue Department has issued 18 safety directives for safe pilgrimage. These are the instructions everyone should follow, including pilgrims, officials, and vendors.

1. No more than five LPG cylinders should be stored.

2. The cylinder should be set on the floor level and the fireplace on top.

3. Gas cylinders should not be locked down with a chain.

4. If the leakage of LPG from the cylinder is found, the regulator shall be immediately turned off and shifted to the open air.

5. Keep away the gas cylinders from fire. This means that the cylinder must keep a certain distance from the fire.

6. Use gas cylinder tubes with ISI mark only.

7. The LPG cylinders should not be kept upside down.

8. Install fire extinguishers and fire buckets, which are the primary fire extinguishers in the offices and shops.

9. 'No Smoking' and 'Fire Exit' boards in different languages in institutions should be installed.

10. Display emergency phone numbers in different languages visible to the public.

11. Mobile Phone Charging Centers should not use multipin charges  

12. In the event of fire immediately uses the fire extinguishers.

13. Ensure that staff is aware of fire safety efforts in connection with firefighting.

14. Avoiding dumping of waste on the exit of the shops.

15. Do not store any fire hazardous liquids or explosives.

16. Devotees should not cook food in viri (bed-spread).

17. Ensure that electrical appliances are properly earthed.

18. Employees of the various institutions should be made aware of the fire rescue efforts in relation to the fire brigade.
