Ramesh Chennithala, the leader of the Opposition, said he was happy that this pilgrimage season is going peaceful and without any trouble.
He was speaking to media persons after participating in the sanitation project at Sannidhanam as part of the 'Punyam Poonkavanam' project.
He said that the 'Punyam Poonkavanam' is a good example. Plastic use has declined after the programme was implemented in Sabarimala. The Opposition Leader said there was a need to raise awareness among the devotees in other states about the use of plastic.
The responsibility of the government is to preserve the sanctity of Sabarimala and provide facilities to the devotees. He also urged the government to convene an all-party meeting on the enactment of special legislation for Sabarimala. He said that if a special board for Sabarimala comes in, it will affect the income of other temples in Travancore.
