Acharya Ritwik Varnam and Ankurarpanam Held at Srivari Temple

Tirumala, 29 Jul. 20: As the annual Pavitrotsavams is set to commence from July 30 at Srivari temple traditional, the ritual of Acharya Ritwik Varnam was held at the Srivari temple on Wednesday morning while in the evening Ankurarpanam was held at Tirumala.

The Pavitrotsavam is performed to ward off ill effects, if any, which occurred during year-long festivals in the temple by either Archakas or employees or devotees. Legends say the utsavam was in vogue since 15 century but revived by TTD in 1962.

The events of pavitrotsavam included Pavitra pratista on Day 1, Pavitra Samarpana on Day-2 and Purnahuti on Day 3. 

The utsava idols of Sri Malayappaswamy and his consorts were given Snapana Tirumanjanam on all three days.

In view of Covid-19 restrictions, the entire Pavitrotsavam will be observed in Ekantham.
