Varalakshmi Vratam Performed at Tiruchanoor

Tiruchanoor, 31 Jul. 20: The sacred Varalakshmi Vratam was celebrated in a ceremonious manner at Sri Padmavati Ammavari temple at Tiruchanoor on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion the TTD Chairman Sri Y V Subba Reddy said that on-demand from devotees the TTD also conducted the festival on a virtual platform which was telecasted live by the SVBC.

He said nearly 3500 devotees had bought online tickets and participated in the ritual through virtual means while lakhs of devotees across the country watched the event on SVBC live telecast.

Archakas has submitted the names and Gotras of all such devotees during the Sankalpa puja. TTD has already despatched the prasadams to the ticket holders by India post.

He said special prayers were also held to Sri Padmavati and Sri Venkateswara for the well being of the humanity and relief from coronavirus.


TTD EO Sri Anil Kumar Singhal said that by performing Sri Varalakshmi puja devotees would beget fruits of Ashtalakshmi.

He said every year nearly 1500 tickets were sold for the special pujas at the Sri Padmavati temple but this year it was held in ekantham.


The archakas performed the Sri Varalakshmi Vratam in a traditional pattern by worshipping the presiding deity with traditional flowers and traditional nine threads (Navagrandhi).

Agama Advisor Sri Srinivasacharyulu explained the significance of the vratam as explained in Bhavisyottara Puranam.
