Raj Bhavan illuminated in pink to promote awareness on breast cancer

Hyderabad, Oct 31: With an objective to promote awareness on breast cancer and its early detection, the Raj Bhavan, here, was illuminated in pink on Saturday.

The historic Raj Bhavan complex was brightly illuminated in pink by the Usha Lakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation, which took the permission of Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan during an online breast cancer awareness meeting earlier.

The month of October is being observed as the International Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Emphasising on the early detection of breast cancer, Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that the early detection and treatment would help save thousands of precious lives.

Women aged above 40 years need to get yearly tests to detect any signs of breast cancer and get the early treatment to conquer the cancer. “Early detection is vital in effective cancer treatment and survival. We must all strive for the promotion of better awareness on breast cancer on a regular basis,” she added.

Ushalakshmi Breast Cancer Foundation founder and CEO Dr P. Raghu Ram said that it was for the first time ever that any Raj Bhavan was illuminated in pink to create awareness on breast cancer in the country.
