Union Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, today chaired a video conference with Chief Secretaries of all states to take stock of public health response to the COVID- 19 pandemic and preparations and arrangements for Covid vaccine.
The Cabinet Secretary
asked Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories to ensure scrupulous
observance of the guidelines relating to surveillance, containment and caution
issued by the Union Home Ministry. He
said that currently active cases are less than 4.5 lakh cases and fatalities
are also on the declining trend. He reiterated
the need of effective containment strategy and adequate testing facilities for
early detection of COVID cases so as to minimise its spread in the community.
Referring to the
arrangements and preparations to be made with regard to the Covid vaccine, the
Cabinet Secretary urged the Chief Secretaries to review all aspects of Covid
vaccine rollout. He asked them to hold
the State steering committee meeting before 6th of December and to
ensure that the task force meetings at the State, district and block level are
also held. He emphasized the need to strengthen
infrastructure for cold chains,
transportation of vaccine etc and ensure multi sectoral coordination. He also
stressed the need to open up transparent communication with public on
vaccination of priority groups.
Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender
Reddy, Principal Secretary Home Ravi Gupta, Additional DG Jitender, Principal
Secretary Political Vikas Raj, Secretary Health
and Family Welfare Rizvi and other officials were present in the meeting.
