Hyderabad, Jan 2: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has visited the Covid-19 vaccination dry run centre at Primary Health Centre, Tilaknagar, here, on Saturday.
She went round the dry run
centre and had interaction with the medical and health staff and the
beneficiaries who were given the vaccine.
The visit by Governor,
along with her husband Dr. P. Soundararajan, a renowned Nephrologist, turned
out to be a huge morale booster to the frontline warriors and the beneficiaries
who were taking the vaccination in the State.
The Governor, who herself
is a medical professional, has inspected the cold chain system, vaccination
rooms, personally observed the vaccination process to a couple of beneficiaries
at the centre.
Speaking to the media at
the dry run centre, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan appealed to the people not to
be vaccine-hesitant.
“Vaccine is safe. People
all over the world are taking the vaccine. There is not even a single incident
of fatality due to the vaccination till now. People should not be afraid to
take the vaccine. I am concerned that some surveys indicated that 40 per cent
of the health care workers have shown vaccine-hesitancy. We all must take
vaccine and get protected from the virus,” she added.
The Governor also appealed
to the media to strive to create awareness about the safety of the vaccination
and help motivate the people to willingly go for the vaccination.
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan said that the vaccination process would be taken in four stages
in the State and around 80 Lakh people would be vaccinated. As part of the
first phase of vaccination, around 5 Lakh people would be given the vaccine.
The healthcare workers,
frontline warriors, people above 50 years of age and those below 50 years of
age with other health complications would be covered as part of the vaccination
in the State.
The Governor stated that
the dry run would help find out the effectiveness of the system and the
measures to initiate for the actual rollout of the vaccination later.
Expressing her
satisfaction about the dry-run, the Governor appreciated the efforts made by
the Medical and Public Health department in the State.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan
thanked the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the massive initiative to
come up with vaccination programme in our country.
“The Hon’ble Prime
Minister’s earlier visit to the Bharat Biotech Centre at Genome Valley showed
his keen and strong resolve to roll out the massive vaccination programme in
our country,” she added.
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan said that 2020 was the year of pandemic and we are transitioning
into the 2021 as the Year of Protection. Governor saluted the frontline workers
for their selfless service and tireless work in protecting all.
The Governor also thanked
and applauded the tremendous work done by the scientists in our country in
developing and producing the Covid-19 vaccine. She said that their effort in
vaccine production was a big boost to the Made in India and a step towards the
Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
The Governor interacted
with the medical and health staff and the beneficiaries, who got vaccinated on
the first day and appreciated them.
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan personally handed over the appreciation and safe, healthy and
prosperous New Year-2021 wishes greeting cards to the medical and health staff
and to the beneficiaries.
Director of Medical and
Public Health Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao explained about the arrangements for the dry-run
and the actual vaccination programme in the State to Governor.
He said that Governor’s
visit and appreciation was a big motivation and morale booster to the
healthcare staff.
