Pongal celebrated with gaiety in traditional way at Raj Bhavan

Hyderabad, Jan 14: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, along with all her family members, took part in the traditional Pongal festival celebrations at Raj Bhavan, here, on Thursday.

The Governor prepared the traditional Pongal dish and offered prayers for the health, prosperity, and wellbeing of all.

The celebrations were conducted in a highly traditional manner and all the rituals associated with the Pongal celebrations were performed in front of the Main House, the official residence of the Governor in the Raj Bhavan complex.

Preparing the Pongal dish, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan offered it to the Sun and it was later served to the participants.

The traditional Pongal dish, which means ‘’spilling over” or “boiling over,” signifies the abundance and prosperity and is offered to the Sun as thanks giving as part of the Harvest Festival.

The Governor said that it was our tradition to thank the nature for all the abundance, health, and prosperity during our festivals that are essentially linked to our Mother Nature.

The Governor was joined by her husband and renowned Nephrologist Dr. P. Soundararajan, and her parents and other family members, and the staff of Raj Bhavan at the traditional Pongal celebrations.

Governor flies Kites with Messages on Vaccine and Atma Nirbhar Bharat:

Later, the Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan flew the kites true to the spirit of Telangana culture and traditions at the sprawling Raj Bhavan complex.

The Governor ensured that the kites carry the messages like “Our Vaccine-Our Pride,” “Our Country-Our Vaccine,” “Our Vaccines-Safe Vaccines,” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat.”

The messages on kites were aimed at creating awareness on the eve of massive vaccination programmes to begin on January 16 all over the country.

“Mixing the traditional festival celebrations with promoting the cause of Vaccines to be given to the frontline warriors on a priority basis in the first phase is aimed at thanking our scientists, who came out with vaccine,” the Governor added.

The messages on kites were also aimed at expressing our gratitude to our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji for the Atma Nirbhar Bharat vision and initiative that made vaccines development and production possible in our country. The message was also clear that our vaccines are our country’s pride and they are safe.
