Hyderabad, Jan 4: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said that vaccine approval was a moment of pride for our country.
“The World Health
Organisation’s applaud for the country’s initiative in the development of vaccine
and its approval is the testimony to our scientists’ capability,” she added.
The Governor was virtually
inaugurating the 7-day-long Sri Ramachandra Pathology Annual Rapid Review
Course (SPARRC-2021), organised by the Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai.
Speaking on the occasion,
the Governor stated that the development and approval for the Indian vaccine to
prevent the Covid-19 effectively shattered the criticism about the country’s
poor research and development capability.
The Governor stated that
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and support to the research
institutions and boosting the morale of the scientists’ fraternity helped our
country in coming up with the Made in India vaccine.
Dr. Tamilisai
Soundararajan said that many developing countries were looking at India for the
vaccine supply and added that our country was rising to the occasion.
Referring to the pathology
rapid review course being organised by the Sri Ramachandra Medical College, she
said that the field of pathology was crucial in diagnosing and in facilitating the
right treatment.
“The discipline of
pathology is witnessing the use of advanced digital technologies and the use of
Artificial Intelligence. Going for the treatment without pathology reports is
like going to the war without arms. Pathology reports play vital role in any
treatment process,” she added.
The Governor exhorted the
medical professionals to strive for excellence with utmost dedication and
commitment in their chosen fields to serve the needy.
Indian Medical Association
president Dr J A. Jayalal, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and
Research vice-chancellor Dr. PV Vijayaraghavan, SPARRC-2021 organising
chairperson Prof. Sadhya Sundaram, and more than 700 delegates from all over the
