Free Knee and Hip Surgenries -- BIRRD Board Decides

Tirupati, 26 Feb. 21: The BIRRD board on Friday decided to provide free implants and surgeries of Kneecap and hip freely to deserving poor and also launch Spinal Chord surgeries.

 

During the BIRRD Trust meeting held in the new building of the ortho hospital in the Chairmanship of TTD Board Chief Sri YV Subba Reddy, it was decided to provide free surgeries to all-white ration cards and pension cardholders.

 

While kneecap and hip surgeries are also done free for all Arogyasree cardholders, they have to pay Rs. 65-70,000 only for implants.

 

The meeting sanctioned Rs.3.5 crores for a new four-floor OPD block, the appointment of more doctors, purchase of MRI and CT scan to improve services to the poor in the institution.

 

The meet also deliberated on the feasibility of inviting eminent surgeons to offer free services at BIRRD and also to build three more Operation theatres to slash waiting for queues for operations.

 

TTD EO Dr KS Jawahar Reddy, Additional EO and BIRRD director Sri AV Dharma Reddy, Honorary Director of BIRRD Dr Madanmohan Reddy, TTD Health advisor Dr Seetha were also present.
