TTD Addl Eo Offers Silks to Tirutatani Tanikesan

Following the tradition, TTD Additional EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy offered silk vastrams to Sri Tanikesan, the chief deity of the famous temple in Tiruttani on the auspicious occasion of Adikrittika on Monday.

On his arrival to the temple, he was received by Joint Commissioner of TN Endowments Smt Paranjyothi, Temple Chairman Sri Jayashankar and others. Later the Additional EO had darshan of Sri Tanikesan.

This famous shrine of Lord Muruga, also known as Tanikesan is located on a small hillock in Tiruttani of Tamilnadu, about 50 kilometres from Tirupati. Tiruttani is considered to be one among six prime temples “Arupadaiveedu” dedicated to Lord Muruga. It is believed that Lord Muruga married one of His consorts, Sri Valli, at this sacred place.

Every year, TTD offers silk vastrams to the presiding deity as a gift from Sri Venkateswara Swamy on this important festival day. This practice of presenting silks came into being in 2006.
