Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan took
part in the 3 rd day grand Bathukamma celebrations at the iconic
Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, here, on Friday.
GHMC Mayor G. Vijaya Lakshmi and many women from different
walks of life joined the Governor in the celebrations.
The Governor stated that Bathukamma festival is the pride of
Telangana State.
“Bathukamma is a unique floral festival of Telangana that reflects
the rich cultural and traditional heritage of the Telangana State,”
she added.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that the Bathukamma
celebrations also have the message of women’s well-being as the
underlying message.
“The traditional food items that are exchanged among the women
participants during the Nine-Day long festivities are full of
nutritious values and help the women maintain the nutritious
levels,” she added.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that the Bathukamma is a great
tribute to the Mother Nature and women alike.
The Governor’s family members joined the celebrations and
enthusiastically took part in the festivities.
Earlier, the Governor took part in the Bathukamma celebrations
organized by the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in its campus
at Nampally, here.
She stated that she had a great emotional connect with the
Bathukamma celebrations and called upon the people to involve
younger generations in the celebrations to help them understand
the significance of our traditional festival.
MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha joined the Governor in the Bathukamma
celebrations at the PSR Telugu University.
